Community Philanthropists Convene in Raleigh
RALEIGH—Community Investment Network announces the 2006 Community Investment Network Conference, "The Debt and The Reckoning: What Do We Owe Each Other?". The conference will be held October 6-8, 2006 at the Sheraton Raleigh Hotel in Raleigh, NC.
The Community Investment Network Conference is an annual gathering where individuals, families, neighborhood associations, community groups, civic groups, foundations, and giving circles can come together to discuss various strategies of investing time, talent, and treasure to strategically build communities.
We live in a time where collective giving and social networking for social change is on the decline. The sponsors of this conference envision a gathering that provides hope and renews the spirits of individuals, groups, and organizations seeking to make a difference in the neighborhoods, communities, and cities where they live.
This year's conference promises to be a time of great fellowship and learning with breakout sessions entitled "Giving Circles 101: From Concept to Creation", "Fundraising: An Art or Science?", "The Church: Encouraging Stewardship and Giving in the Broader Community", and "Giving Circles: Organized Civic Engagement and Collective Giving". These are just a few of the sessions participants can choose to attend. The conference will also feature some very prominent keynote speakers.
Keynote speakers include:
Ambassador James A. Joseph
Director
U.S.- Southern Africa Center for Leadership and Public Values
Duke University
Linetta Gilbert
Senior Program Officer
The Ford Foundation
